STEM in action!

Laidlaw school is home to one of Pembina Trails School Division's designated STEM labs. As a STEM school, Laidlaw has acquired both high tech and low technology tools to facilitate the learning of SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING and MATHEMATICS in an experiential, inquiry-based environment.

Many of the tools that make up our STEM lab include Virtual Reality equipment, our Laidlaw TV production gear, two 3D printers, lots of coding devices, and most recently our grow tent! With this equipment (and much more), Laidlaw students explore the design process and inquiry learning to answer questions and develop their growth mindset!

All of our teachers from K through gr.8 access the STEM lab alongside their curriculum to reach provincial outcomes by embedding these skills into their lessons and instruction. The students are so engaged and love the hands-on learning and real-life applications of this unique learning environment.
