Library Learning Commons

Our Library Learning Commons is hopping busy!

At École Dieppe, our Learning Commons, (centre d'innovation) is buzzing with activities. Libraries were traditionally quiet spaces. This is not often the case here. We have Makerspaces which include; a Lego wall, a magnetic construction site, finger puppets, arts, letter and card making as well as coding. We have a large selection of new French and English books.  Our staff and teacher librarian promote a love of reading throughout the year. We participate in I Love to Read, Forest of Reading, collaborative storytelling, research, predictions and introducing young children to a variety of genres. If you were to wander into our Creative Commons, you could see students researching a topic of their choice, students helping each other with mini construction projects, using educational apps, programming and coding robots, and a comfortable area to explore new books. We have a full time teacher librarian and a half-time technician to support our school learners and teaching staff. Our library commons is equipped with seven computers for research and educational links as well as numerous iPads to extend our learning with technology.
