Whyte Ridge Indoor Track Team
On March 1st, 2018 grade four students went to a track meet at Max bell center at the U of M. There were schools from all over Winnipeg. The events that we did were shot put, long jump, shuttle and the four by 200. Students who participate in Run Club can have a chance to do that. They go on a bus to the U of M and that is where the track meet takes place. It is also good exercise!
The shuttle relay is when eight girls or eight boys run back and fourth handing off the baton to each other. When your whole team is done you sit down. If you are wondering what a baton is it's something that you hold in your hand and hand off to the next person.
Many kids from our school came home with medals in the relays and lots of the other events. By the sounds of that I think we did great! Good luck at your next track meet! And don't forget this is a TEAM SPORT!

On March 13th, 2018 the grade 4 track team of Whyte Ridge School went to the Max Bell center of the U of M for their 3rd track meet. The events were the 4 x100m race, shotput, long jump, and the shuttle relays. A lot of schools around Winnipeg were participating in this track meet event. Team long jump is when you have a team of 4 and you try to be the team to jump the farthest. The first person jumps and then they mark where you land. Then the next person goes to where the mark is and they jump, and then you keep doing that until everyone has ONE turn! The judges add up your total jump. A great team jump is usually 5 or 6 metres in length.
