Student Services

At Prairie Sunrise School, we believe that the student, the parents/guardians and the classroom teacher are at the centre of a child's learning. Our Student Support Service teams are extended circles of support so that all students reach their academic potential in a safe, caring and engaging environment. They collaborate with classroom teachers to provide programming that meets the academic, social, and emotional needs of all of our students.

Our In-School Team

On our Prairie Sunrise staff, we have three resource teachers, a school counsellor and two Levelled Literacy Intervention teachers. Our resource teachers and counsellor work closely with the classroom teachers and the administration to support student learning and needs. They co-teach in the classroom and also may provide one-on-one or small group support. There are also two Levelled Literacy Intervention teachers, who work with selected students as a reading intervention.

Our Divisional Team

Our in-school team works closely with divisional professionals to support our students and their families. We may access the services of a school psychologist, speech and language therapist, social worker, occupational therapist, physiotherapist and a behaviour and learning support teacher. These professionals may be used for consultation or direct services as determined by the in-school and divisional student support team.
