At Beaumont School, arts education is an important and valued component of the K-5 curriculum. Students get three half-hour music classes per 6-day cycle with a total of ninety minutes with the music specialist.
In the music classroom, we value play through exploration of instruments (including drums, xylophones, ukuleles, etc.), singing, games, and activities that foster a curiosity and love of music. Indigenous perspectives are routinely incorporated into lessons, and cultural diversities are celebrated and explored in a sensitive, appropriate manner.
There are many opportunities throughout the year for performance including Remembrance Day, the winter and spring concerts, the grade 5 farewell, the kindergarten end of year celebration, as well as assemblies.
Manitoba's music curriculum supports holistic development by encouraging both musical growth and social-emotional learning. The music room at Beaumont is a safe, inclusive space where respect and kindness are paramount. We can’t wait to see you there!
