Grade 5 Resident Artist

5KP Artist Teaches Classmates

Our class had a special guest art teacher. One day we were talking about using clay to make sculptures. Valerie told us that she had made many clay animals and would love to teach us about clay. She brought us some examples to look at. We were amazed. They looked so realistic, and we could not believe that they were made by a 10-year-old! They were so cute!

Valerie showed us how to make the background. We needed to spread it out and make sure that it was thin and covered the whole tray. She showed us how to add details using forks and toothpicks. Each student was able to design their own background and create their own scene. Each finished project is unique.

We had a lot of fun. Valerie is an incredible teacher and we are so lucky to have her in our class.
