Library Learning Commons

Library

Our mission is to enrich the lives of students with engaging literature and ensure that students are competent and ethical users of information in a variety of formats to prepare them as life-long learners. The teacher-librarian works with students to analyze learning and information needs, and to locate and use resources in all formats that will meet those needs. Students will learn to access, evaluate, and use information from multiple sources in order to learn, think, create, and apply knowledge. With respect to electronic resources, the Library Learning Commons strives to maintain a constant focus on the nature, quality, and ethical uses of information available in these and in more traditional tools.

The library staff is committed to ensuring that all students have access to quality and engaging reading materials for pleasure reading. Many activities the teacher-librarian organizes are to promote literacy at Westdale School. Suggestions for materials, whether non-fiction, fiction, or professional in nature are encouraged.

The Library is open from 8:15 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. every day for students and staff to find books, complete homework, use the computers, or just visit. Everyone is welcome at any time!
