School Registration for 2018-2019 occurs in February...

It is very important this process be completed by the beginning of March because programming decisions (e.g. number of courses offered) and staffing are affected. Please keep in mind that the number of course sections allocated are based on the number of student registration requests. A delayed registration may require students to only select courses where space is available.

For current Vincent Massey students returning in 2018-2019:

  • Information is shared and registration packages are handed out at grade level assemblies by mid-February.
  • Paperwork is to be handed to the main office (with the payment of 2018/19 fees) by the end of February.
  • Online course selection is to be completed at home by the end of February. Please also note that an opportunity will be provided towards the end of February to complete this in our computer labs (by grade level) for any students who have not completed this process.

For incoming students from feeder schools:

At Vincent Massey, our feeder-schools are: Arthur A. Leach, General Byng, Henry G. Izatt, École South Pointe, École Viscount Alexander. While many students from Acadia attend Fort Richmond Collegiate, a growing number are attending Massey. All Fort Garry French Immersion students are included in Massey’s catchment area. In an effort to explain, Vincent Massey is a school of choice for students who reside outside of the catchment area. Massey’s catchment area is defined as all of Fort Garry, including Whyte Ridge. Waverley Heights has traditionally been viewed as a dual- catchment area, with students free to opt for Institut collégial Vincent Massey Collegiate as their high school.

Information is shared and registration packages are handed out by administration, counsellors, resource teachers and student representatives by mid-February. Please note that:

  • Attendance at the Open House and Orientation is strongly encouraged.
  • Paperwork is to be handed to your school-based teacher/counsellor with the payment of 2018/19 fees by the end of February.
  • Online course selection is to be completed at home. Please also note that an opportunity will be provided towards the end of February for Massey counsellors and resource teachers to assist students with this process, in a lab at their current school.

For incoming students who are new to the neighbourhood, returning from private schools, live out of catchment (e.g. Schools of Choice) and newcomers to Canada:

Information is shared and registration packages are handed out at the Open House and Orientation. Please note that:

  • Attendance at the Open House and Orientation is strongly encouraged.
  • Registration forms and information packages are available at the main office after the Open House and Orientation. Registration forms should be returned to the main office by early March.
  • Online course selection is facilitated by office staff.

Students in grade 9 and 10 are strongly encouraged to register for a minimum of 10 courses per year. Students in grade 11 and 12 are strongly encouraged to register for a minimum of 8 courses per year. New registrations will be limited after Friday, August 17, 2018 (for the first semester) and Friday, January 18, 2019 (for the second semester). Schools of Choice (out-of-division) applicants must complete the registration process by May 15. Schools of Choice applicants will be notified of acceptance by direct contact from the VMC office staff.

For students who are out of catchment and considered “Schools of Choice”…

Students who reside in Bridgwater, South Pointe (except French Immersion), Linden Ridge and Linden Woods must apply under “Schools of Choice: Within-Division”. Students who are “Schools of Choice” within one of our feeder schools must re-apply. Students who reside in Louis Riel, Seine-River (St. Norbert) or Winnipeg SD, must apply for “Schools of Choice: Out-of-Division”.

Students residing outside the catchment area, but wishing to attend Massey are welcome to apply and will be accepted in the following order of priority:

  • Students residing within the Pembina Trails School Division will normally be accepted by completing a "Schools-Of-Choice: In-Division" form provided there is space available, and do not require special programming resulting in a higher level of support and there is adequate space in the grade level.
  • Students residing outside of the Pembina Trails School Division but within the Province of Manitoba will normally be accepted provided they complete a “Schools of Choice: Out-of-Division” form by May 15. A current transcript and a letter of reference from their current school administrator are required. Space must be available and admission to Vincent Massey must not result in a higher level of support being required to meet programming needs.

For students interested in Vincent Massey’s Sports & Arts School:

  • Please contact the school and or the Canadian Sport Centre to initiate the registration process. Application forms for both the Sports Center and the school are available at the side of this page under links.  Hard copies of the school registration form must be printed and handed in at the school office for review.

For international students, students on a study permit or visa and newcomers:

  • Please contact the Pembina Trails School Division to initiate the registration process.

School registration for 2018-2019 involves:

  • completion of the school registration form
  • verification of residency
  • payment of fees
  • completion of course-selection in both hard-copy and online

Please note that:

  • All specific instructions to accomplish this are included in ICVMC’s registration package.
  • Attach a cheque, made out to Institut collégial Vincent Massey Collegiate, to the registration form (no post-dated cheques are accepted). However, debit payment can be made in person (at the main office with a $1 transaction fee applied). Visa or Mastercard payment can be made in person or by telephone (at the main office, again, with a $1 transaction fee).
  • If you are having trouble with the course selection link, please make sure you are using Internet Explorer as your browser.  If errors still persist, choose Tools on the menu bar, then choose Internet Options at the bottom of the list. Choose the Advanced tab, then scroll down to the bottom of the list. The Use SSL 3.0 check box must be selected.

If you are still having access issues please call the main office 204-453-8023.
