Pembina Trails School Division Staff Vaccination Update

Dear Families and Staff:

Earlier today we informed families in our communities about our decision to require masks in Kindergarten to Grade 12 schools, buildings and buses as part of our ongoing priority of ensuring the safest possible environment for our students and staff. In addition to that important step, the Pembina Trails School Division Board of Trustees will now be requiring all staff to be fully vaccinated.

We will bring a policy for first reading to the September 9th board meeting followed by a second and third reading two weeks later.

These two actions, in conjunction with the other safety measures we have put in place, follows the advice from provincial health experts. For more information on the COVID-19 vaccine and to book an appointment if you have not already, please visit https://protectmb.ca/.

As per provincial health guidelines, staff that have medical exemptions will be allowed in the schools, buildings and buses without being fully vaccinated. Please know that we are here to support you and help our staff to ensure this result.

The mandating of masks and vaccines follows our guiding principle that these health and safety issues are about kindness, respect, and responsibility.

Sincerely,

Kathleen McMillan
Chair, Pembina Trails School Division
Board of Trustees

Sincerely,

Ted Fransen

Superintendent of Education/CEO
