Submit your new name suggestion for Dalhousie School

We want to hear from you! Pembina Trails School Division is seeking input for a new name for Dalhousie School, a K-5 school in the Fort Richmond neighbourhood.

Dalhousie is a community school filled with diverse students and staff from across the globe, and this name change is a part of an ongoing commitment to fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and forward-thinking learning environment for all. Our goal is to ensure that the name of the school reflects the spirit of belonging, respect, and pride that we strive to instill in every student.

Submit your new name suggestion or vote on others that have been submitted at the survey below by Wednesday, May 20.

SUBMIT YOUR IDEAS

When submitting a name, please keep in mind that the renaming of schools should be based on one of the following criteria:

• The historical or current name of the district or community in which the school is located when appropriate; 
• A name symbolic of the unique program focus of the school in the case of specialized or alternative schools; 
• The name should ensure inclusivity, reconciliation, respect for diverse cultural identities, and for human rights. 
• Names should be chosen with a view towards staying relevant and appropriate for the future.

Once collected, community feedback will be provided to the Pembina Trails School Division Board of Trustees for consideration in the final naming process.
