Land based Education in Libau, MB

On October 28th we here at AHS were lucky to load onto a bus and start our adventure out to Libau, MB for some land based outdoor education on Knowledge Keeper, Bruce Schacht's, land.  

Knowledge Keeper Bruce welcomed us onto his land and spent the day teaching us about the different medicines that are used in traditional healing, ceremonies and sweats.  We learned about where these medicines are located, how to properly harvest, how they are prepared and what they are used for.  Many of the medicines are used for multiple reasons and in many different ways.  We were able to see, smell and touch the medicines.  

We enjoyed a lovely lunch of Bison broth chili and fry bread with smores over the fire for dessert before loading the bus and heading back to Winnipeg.

Overall, a wonderful day of sharing and knowledge was had by all, and we can't wait to go back.  Thanks Bruce!
