Pembina Trails statement on Public Health Orders (PHO)

Friday, March 11, 2022

Dear Pembina Trails Students, Staff, and Families.

As we have all heard from provincial public health officials, Manitoba is on a continuing journey of easing COVID-19 restrictions. Pembina Trails has been following Public Health Orders (PHO) since the pandemic was announced in March 2020.

Effective Tuesday, March 15, 2022, all PHOs will be lifted in our schools. This will mean that schools will continue on the path towards fewer restrictions and limitations. It will not happen overnight. Please be patient with our schools as they adjust to this new reality of what these changes will mean for size of cohorts, split recesses, school assemblies, access to water fountains and so forth.

We understand that masks remain the most visible element of the PHO. We echo Manitoba Public Health’s recommendation that all students, staff and visitors in our schools wear masks.

Although recommended, masks will not be required. We also ask members of the Pembina Trails family to remain respectful of the choices being made by individuals with respect to wearing masks.

The COVID-19 vaccine remains the single most important step that an individual can take to remain healthy and free of COVID-19 or its symptoms. We encourage all eligible members of the Pembina Trails family to get the booster shot.

As we approach spring break and the promise of warmer weather, I am mindful of the power of language. We are in a period of respair - the return of hope after a period of despair. Let us embrace the coming weeks with optimism. We have much for which to be thankful.

Respectfully,

 Ted Fransen

Superintendent
