Pembina Trails renames Ryerson School and reveals name of new K-8 school

Pembina Trails has exciting news for its school community.

We are delighted to reveal two new school names.

As part of our continued journey and quest for healing along the path to truth and reconciliation, we have renamed Ryerson Elementary School “Prairie Sunrise School.” Edgerton Ryerson was an architect of the residential school program that Canadians are only now learning the full scope of its horror.

Prairie Sunrise School represents not just a break from a dark and painful history, it symbolizes a fresh new beginning for our Pembina Trails families. Prairie Sunrise School will continue to shine.

The other name we are thrilled to announce today is Bison Run School, a kindergarten to grade eight school that is currently under construction in Bison Run, one of the Waverley West communities. We anticipate opening the doors to Bison Run School in January 2023.
