If you are comfortable going for a walk outside and still want a tourist experience, I have good news for you! There are some self guided audio tours available that you can easily do with your phone while practising safe social distancing.
The Forks Audio Tour
The Forks: A self-guided audio tour fits the safe-distancing guidelines, as you explore the beautiful areas of The Forks. Just download the audio file, and listen to award-winning columnist and University of Manitoba Professor of Native Studies Niigaan Sinclair guide you through the natural area. You’ll learn the 6,000 year history, hear the meaning of the public art and architecture on display, and discover artifacts that have been unearthed where you walk.
Upper Fort Garry App
The Upper Fort Garry App examines the historic circa-1820s original stone archway, which once belonged to a Hudson Bay Company fort. Upper Fort Garry Provincial Park is conveniently found on Main Street across from The Forks. The park highlights include gardens and the Heritage Wall. This 400 ft. creation is one of the biggest pieces of public art in the country. 7,000 LED bulbs dazzle us with a light and sound show that plays at regular times daily.) The GPS-based app will share details and photos as you explore the park.
St. Boniface Historical Walking Tour App
The St. Boniface Historical Walking Tour App takes you for a 3.47 km walk through Saint-Boniface, the Winnipeg's French Quarter. The app includes a map and several interactive elements to highlight the historic character of this neighbourhood.
