All four Pembina Trails high schools offer Spanish in high school. Manitoba’s Spanish curriculum is structured around four components: applications; language competence; global citizenship; and learning strategies.
The value of learning Spanish is significant not only for Pembina Trails students, but for Canadian people in general. Learning Spanish helps students to:
- understand and value the rich and varied cultures in the Spanish-speaking world
- have more opportunity to speak directly with people who speak Spanish as a first language
- maintain and develop literacy if they already have knowledge of the language and cultures
