The results are in and we are happy to share them.  Before the winter break, we launched a Thoughtexchange on literacy. We asked our parents and guardians to share ideas and tips on what they have done at home to help their child become a confident reader. Our goal was to created an online town hall with many different voices sharing thoughts on parental engagement strategies for student success in literacy.

We would like to thank the 1,439 participants who took the time to join the discussion. We are inspired to hear the things you are doing at home to successfully reinforce literacy. More than 26 thousand star ratings were given during the two week exchange. These results help our leaders develop a better understanding of what literacy looks like beyond the classroom.

Here are just a few of the top suggestions on how to encourage literacy at home:

  • Make it part of your daily routine

  • Reading together

  • Encourage children to read what they enjoy

  • Be a role model
