General Byng is living up to its name. Last spring, the school received official Community School status by the province of Manitoba.  Less than 40 schools have earned the honour that recognizes the important role schools play in community development and growth.

In keeping with this philosophy, General Byng will be hosting a Community Expo on October 22, 2019. The vision is to create a free evening where families can come and get up to speed on the supports offered by local resources.

"We want to help bridge our community with not-for-profit agencies that support and enrich healthy families.  At General Byng, we truly believe that when staff, parents and caregivers are thriving, children make greater academic gains,” shared Alison Giasson, Community Expo chair and grade 9 teacher.

Service agencies such as Canadian Mental Health Association, Manitoba Metis Federation, New Journey Housing, Legal Aid Manitoba, the City of Winnipeg Community Services Department, and many more will be on hand to offer information and share more details on programs and services that can positively influence the health of our neighborhood families.

The expo runs from 4-8 p.m. at General Byng School, 1250 Beaumont Street. There is no cost to attend this event. We hope to see you there.
