After hearing from many of our families about how challenging it can be to balance work and life, Pembina Trails welcomed additional before and after school options this past fall.

Right at School, a before and after care enrichment program, is off to a great start with centres located in five of our schools.

“It’s exciting,” shared Andy.  “I didn’t know anyone when I started so it was new and exciting.”

The grade 4 student is the oldest at Right at School’s École Crane’s program. He has become a mentor to the younger students and has been given the official title of junior educator. Andy is often found encouraging others and taking a leadership role during activities. The 9 year old is quick to point out what he also gains from being part of the curriculum based program.

“I like doing my homework once I get there. That means once I get home I’ll have more time, especially on days when I have swimming.”

It is not just students, but parents that are thankful for the additional before and after school care option.

“For a family with two working parents, the convenience of having the option right at school was the value that sold us,” said father of two, Garth Fudge.

“What I see is that the kids here are fully engaged. Joe, the facilitator, connects with the children on a fantastic level. It doesn’t matter what activity they are doing, my daughter would rather finish it than leave.”

Right at School is currently serving the following communities:

  • Bairdmore School *also serving École South Pointe School students

  • École Crane

  • École Charleswood *also serving École Dieppe students

  • Linden Meadows School

  • Westdale School *also serving Beaverlodge School  students

There are still spots available. More information can be found on school websites or by visiting Right At School’s website.
