During the past few months, we have witnessed our community show great strength and flexibility to support learning during what can only be described as unprecedented times. These efforts have helped Manitoba flatten the COVID-19 curve. You may have already heard that last Friday, the Premier directed all school divisions to commence planning a return to school for teachers and students on June 1, 2020.

"We would like to make it extremely clear that Learning From Home will continue. This announcement does not mean classes are now running full time in our schools. It does allow opportunities for our teachers, students and parents to meet in a small group or in a one-on-one setting at school. These sessions will be prearranged in a safe and structured way," shared Ted Fransen.

Individual schools will be sending additional details on how to book these opportunities.

We are excited to be in a position to begin to invite students back. We will continue to follow COVID-19 physical distancing and cleaning protocols as well as the government re-entry guidelines for limited use of schools. When attending a school, we ask our community to please remember:

  •  Students and parents come to school by teacher invitation only. These opportunities to connect at school are optional.
  • Parents and or guardians, who are not part of a scheduled meeting, are kindly asked to wait in their cars, at home, or outside to limit the number of people in our buildings
  • Anyone feeling unwell should stay home
  • The importance of proper handwashing and avoiding touching your face
  • Maintain physical distancing protocols

Beginning June 15-30, 2020, no new content will be introduced though Learning From Home. Our students will continue to be welcomed, via prearranged meetings, in our schools. The focus, during these two weeks, will be to offer additional support and transition meetings. As always, questions should be directed to classroom teachers or school leaders.

Again, we would like to thank you all for your ongoing patience. We look forward to ending this unprecedented school year in a way that makes us all #PembinaTrailsProud.
