On September 8, 2018,  International Literacy Day was celebrated across the globe. The special day was created by the United Nations in 1966 during a UNESCO conference.

This year’s focus is literacy and skills development. “Despite progress made, literacy challenges persist, and at the same time the demands for skills required for work, evolve rapidly. This year, International Literacy Day explores and highlights integrated approaches that simultaneously can support the development of literacy and skills, to ultimately improve people’s life and work and contribute to equitable and sustainable societies,” shared the United Nations.

In Pembina Trails, we believe in the power of literacy. Please take the time to watch this video on how we are supporting literacy in all our 34 schools.
