School divisions across the province have a common goal this fall, and that is welcome students safely back to school with as much in-class learning as possible. We are all working to limit the spread of COVID-19. We understand that there are questions and concerns about what will be done if there is a confirmed case linked to a school.
Manitoba Education and Manitoba’s Chief Provincial Public Health Officer have created guidelines for communication of a confirmed COVID-19 case. Pembina Trails is committed to following the lead of Public Health.
- Public Health is responsible for the contact tracing, with support from the school system.
- Public Health officials will identify the close contacts of a positive case and contact those individuals who may have been exposed.
- Schools will be able to provide public health officials with a list of individuals who may have come into contact with a positive COVID-19 case.
- Relevant students and school personnel will also be interviewed by officials for contact tracing.
