The 2020 Report to our Community is now available!

It seems only appropriate that as we approach the anniversary of the announcement of the first case of COVID-19 in Manitoba, we take this opportunity to reflect on the past year in Pembina Trials School Division.

Our board of trustees is pleased to launch “Building Resilience: 2020 Report to our Community.”

This publication celebrates the resilience and grit that our staff, students and families have discovered in themselves over the past year. Personal stories of adaptation and triumph are intermixed with a timeline of events and changes, investments in technology, safety and mental health, and an overview of the sources that support those investments.

You will see photos of familiar smiling faces (some behind masks of course), alongside stories of the “new normal” in the classroom, at graduation and in learning at home. The report digs deep into creative innovations such as planning that allowed students to celebrate convocation. Some innovations are technical, like the contract-tracing app developed at Fort Richmond Collegiate, while others are cultural, such as the Star Blanket created by and for the community of Westgrove School.

We hope that this look back over a year we will never forget will help strengthen our resolve to fill 2021 with many more success stories. As our chair, Kathleen McMillan, and our superintendent, Ted Fransen, share in their message:

“We invite you to take the time to reflect on the amazing work that our staff and students have done this year … creating new opportunities for growth and perspective. [We] are exceptionally proud of how all of us are living our mantra of ‘Accomplish Anything.’”
