Royal School is a public school that offers quality academic
programming in English for children from Kindergarten to Grade 6.
The catchment area for Royal School encompasses the central
Charleswood area in the vicinity of Grant Avenue and Laxdal Road.
The school, with a population of 189 students, is located in central
Charleswood, directly across from Charleswood Centre Shopping Mall
on Grant Avenue. The school is wheel-chair accessible, has a
capacity of approximately 520 students and has a full-size gymnasium
and designated science room. A number of students are transported by
school bus as provided by the Pembina Trails School Division (PTSD).
From Kindergarten to Grade 6, students are challenged to achieve
their highest academic and social potential. A strong, well
integrated curriculum provides enrichment and challenge across a
variety of subject areas throughout the early and middle years.
Supplementary support to students is provided as necessary to aid
students in achieving their educational and behavioural goals. A
safe, stimulating learning environment, combined with competent and
enthusiastic staff and an active, supportive Parent Council,
encourages children to value learning that is meaningful and
relevant to their lives.
Royal School students aim for success in many areas, but in
particular around our four pillars of Academics, Respect, Teamwork,
and Leadership. These pillars are displayed around our school, in
every classroom, and are a topic of daily/weekly/monthly goal
setting.
At
Royal School, we believe learning is an active, life long process
that should be meaningful and purposeful. We strive to develop
lessons and opportunities which respect and foster the learning
styles and intelligences of all children.
It
is through our dedicated staff, our small school atmosphere, and a
true home-school partnership that we provide each child with the
chance to flourish and achieve success across the curriculum, and
beyond.
Our teachers are
experienced and enthusiastic. Most staff members have been part of
the Royal School community for many years, creating continuity and a
sense of family for our students and their parents.
Student support services
include Resource, Counseling, Speech and Language clinicians, and
Reading Recovery teachers. Other available professional services
include Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy.
Classrooms are large and
bright. Our new library, our computer lab, and science lab are all
well-equipped, and complement our junior high sized gym and our
acoustically built music room.
As a school within the
Pembina Trails School Division, Royal is dedicated to providing
students with unmatched access to computers.
