Mission Statement
The River West Park School Parent Council believes that education at River West Park School must be comprehensive, relevant, appropriate and responsive to present and future educational environment.
The River West Park School Parent Council also believes that parents have a responsibility, the right and a need to be involved in all aspects of their child's formal education.

 

Functions of the Parent Council
1.To work in partnership with the school in development of School Plans as they relate to:

a. Curriculum
b. Programs 
c. Evaluation/Conferencing
d. Student Discipline
e. Extracurricular 
f. School Closures
g. Fund-raising

2. To participate in the development of the School Budget Proposal, prior to submission to the Board.
3.To provide recommendations regarding school matters as they arise, and also as requested.
4.To participate in School reviews and to receive feedback on actions taken.
5. To provide recommendations to the School Board with respect to the hiring and assigning of Principals.
6. To request representation from the Principal and/or Vice-Principal.
7. To encourage representation from staff teachers and other staff members.
8. To request Parent Council Executive Representation at R.W.P. Staff meetings.

 

 

Duties of Officers and Committees
President:
To provide leadership, ensure collaboration and partnership within the School Community.

Vice-President:
To assist the President in their role and to receive concerns, feedback and input from the Executive and General Parent Members.

Networking Co-ordinator:
To acquire pertinent educational information and communicate all correspondence to parents, students and the school.

Secretary:
Records and maintains minutes of all Parent Council meeting and carries out correspondence relating to Council matters as required. Treasurer: To manage all financial activities related to the Parent Council.

Public Relations Co-ordinator:
To promote a positive image os the School, it's students and it's activities, and to keep parents informed.

Fund-raising Co-ordinator:
To share in the management of all fund-raising activities shared by the community and the School, as specified in the " River West Park Fund raising Committee Guidelines".

Volunteer Co-ordinator:
To assist in the co-ordination of volunteers and encourage involvement.

Classroom Representative:
To act as a liaison between Parent Council, Classroom Parents, and Teacher.

Administrative Representative:
To work in partnership with Parent Council in support of students, parents and staff, and provide information pertinent to school initiatives.

Teacher Representative:
To represent Staff and provide input on all issues relating to the School Community.
