- Choosing
the right key words simplifies searching for
information in print and electronic sources.
- Use a broad term
(ex. disease) to search or do the opposite by using a
precise narrow term (ex. "Lyme disease") to see which gives
you the preferred information.
- Sometimes you will
have more success using the singular form of a word rather
than the plural form(ex. "dog" rather than "dogs")
- On the Internet,
use more than one search engine to make your queries. Did
the use of different search engines give you the same
results?
- Pick a few
recommended search tools and stick with them. You will come
to appreciate their special capabilities.
